Global 1 Number (G1)
Picked as One of Asia's "Most Innovative Technology Development"
Singapore, October 16, 2006 - Launching a cross-border mobile campaign has been cumbersome in the past because of the multiple short codes that one has to contend with. Not anymore.
The 3GSM World Congress Asia, today, unveiled the solution to unite the world of mobile messaging. G1, which stands for the Global 1 Number, has been picked as a finalist for the first ever Asia Mobile Innovation Awards, aimed at supporting innovation in the Asian mobile industry. This event is fully endorsed by the GSM Association - a global trade association to preserve, enhance and promote the interests of GSM mobile operators on a wide variety of national, regional and global issues.
A proprietary technology of Radius-ED, G1 was shortlisted for the ‘Most Innovative Technology Development’ by a panel of judges comprising innovation leaders from mobile operators, vendors and venture capital firms. Some 70 entries were received for the two award categories, the other being the ‘Most Innovative Mobile Application or Content’.
“We are proud to be nominated for this award. It has taken us 12 months to design and develop the technology and to receive recognition for it in our maiden attempt is indeed an honor," said Ben Chong, Director and Chief Technology Officer of Radius-ED, a global technology service provider.
“G1 was conceptualized because we saw the need for an international short code which could be used anywhere, anytime as opposed to multiple short codes for multiple countries. This not only causes confusion but also many limitations when planning for campaigns across countries. G1’s single short code allows users to access mobile contents with one number, anywhere in the world."
Through Radius-ED's global alliances with mobile operators, G1 empowers corporate companies and media agencies in reaching customers around the world through mobile messaging services including those who are roaming.
All data are channeled through one secured and centralized hub for one-stop campaign management, thus, leading to better segmentation of information such as by interest groups, country, operator, and so on. Additionally, the incorporation of Digital Rights Management ensures that all revenue streams are accounted for with better content protection.
G1 improves efficiency in communication by doing away with the need to appoint multiple parties for different markets. Additionally, time and money are saved as duplication and repetition of communication materials are eliminated.
On the part of the mobile content provider, the ability to reach a wider market translates to a bigger reach to sell a lot more ring tones, wallpapers and other content.
G1 utilises a unified and enhanced mobile data transport system (SMSC, MMSC and WAP gateway), content management system and billing system to enable global multiple operators to receive and send mobile content and information via multi-protocol and signaling interfaces. In fact, the unique billing system is easily monitored and modified and allows for multi-currency reverse billing which eradicates the headache that usually comes with operating in various markets. All these factors bode well for G1 as marketers are moving towards systems and solutions that can provide a unified platform for their marketing efforts.
